I give a lot of thought to food in my books. What ingredients were actually available then, how preparation might have happened, and then, most importantly how to make it mouthwatering for the reader. I also occasionally put up recipes from such thinking on my website. I’m not alone in this obsession. I took Bear to the Getty Villa Thursday and we saw the mosaic showing Briseis… There is a shelf in the bookstore waiting for Hand of Fire!!
Now that’s a great idea. I wonder how one gets a book into the Getty bookstore. I’m glad Bear is getting a proper education via his grandma. Every child needs to be able to “read” the myths via mosaics and vases. One of my favorite moments as a mom was explaining stories on Greek vases to my son in the British Museum and turning to leave one spot only to discover a crowd behind us listening in. Everyone needs a myth teller! Good job Carolyn!
