The big news this past week was all about the Tucson Festival of Books. I arranged the author signings and helped run the Desert Sleuths Sisters in Crime booth all weekend. We had 40 authors over the course of the weekend—working in tandem with the Poisoned Pen Bookstore to make all the authors books available for sale in the DS SinC booth. Here are three photos of special interest to the followers of my website and the members of the AZ Historical Novel Society.
Sharon Kay Penman and I actually managed to enjoy a relaxed dinner together during this crazy weekend, but here she is chatting with a reader while the volunteers, including me, hang out in the background.
(J.A. Jance is on the right, charming readers and signing.) We sold an impressive stack of Sharon’s latest in her Richard the Lionheart series, A King’s Ransom, although admittedly it doesn’t take very many volumes to make a tall stack with this big book.
I had a chance to catch up with one of our AZ HNS regulars, Donis Casey. Her latest historical mystery with Alastair is coming out this June and she’ll take the stage to tell us about it in the fall.

One of my favorite historical mystery writers, Rhys Bowen, also did a signing. She’s agreed to speak to the AZ HNS next winter when she’s back in the Phoenix area. If you haven’t found her Molly Murphy or Royal Spyness series, go look. Lots of fun.
