The publication date is October 15, so you will be able to read this one soon.

Here’s the book description:

A vicious king, vengeful griffins, and a scheming goddess. Can Tesha outmaneuver foes from these three different worlds?

For Tesha, priestess and queen, happiness is a world she can control, made up of her family and the fractious kingdom she and her husband rule within the Great King’s empire. But now the Great King is dead, and his untried son plots against them. Tesha fights back with forbidden sorcery and savvy. In yet another blow, the Griffin King lures Daniti, Tesha’s magical blind sister, into a deadly crisis that Daniti alone can avert.

As danger ensnares everyone Tesha loves, her goddess offers a way out. But can Tesha trust this offer of divine assistance or is it a trap—one that would lead to an unstoppable bloodbath?

Escape into this award-winning epic fantasy series, inspired by the historical Hittite empire and its most extraordinary queen.

Archaeology I Enjoyed

Mythological Medicine

wild yarrow

This is a fun quick dive into Greek myths and legends from an herbalist’s point of view. She talks about yarrow, laurel and the elusive moly Odysseus used to hold off Circe’s enchantments. Painted Coffins from Saqqara

Painted sarcophagus (not one of the Saqqara ones, though)

Egypt’s antiquities ministry announced the discovery of 14 more sarcophagi that had lain buried for 2,500 years in the burial site south of Cairo where they’d earlier excavated 13 other beautiful painted wooden coffins. The vast Saqqara necropolis is located 10 miles south of the famed Giza pyramids. It is part of the ancient city of Memphis, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and hosts the colossal step Pyramid of Djoser. And the digging continues! 1. Every time I read discoveries of more tombs in Egypt, I immediately think of Amelia Peabody novels. And one day, the Hittites discoveries will remind readers of Tesha.

    1. Wouldn’t that Be fun! I would love it if Tesha and the “real” woman behind my character, Queen Puduhepa, were something like a household name. Women leaders across history need to be brought into our common knowledge.
