For my post this week I’ll share the link to my friend Mary Tod’s post on her excellent A Writer of History blog describing out shared writers retreat. Several months ago Mary suggested to several writer friends that we have a writers retreat together. We kept it fairly informal and very productive. It was also thoroughly enjoyable. For me, writing has always been a project that requires community a good deal of the time. I’m not a writer who slams out a first draft without any critique and then polishes it before showing it to anyone. I write a little, listen to reactions, modify where I’m going, and carry on. So the mix of collaborative and individual activities of our retreat was just the right environment for me.

In line with the ancient history of my blog, I’ll include the link to a post about when Bronze Age rulers got together for their retreats.
